Pawnbroker and reality television star Les Gold started his business in a store you could barely turn around in and now he has a warehouse, a hit TV show and recently had a book published.  Gold has business advice that he says can apply to more than just pawnbrokers.  First he says sales success comes from within.  It doesn’t matter how fancy your brochure is if you aren’t confident.  Next he says it’s important to embrace change.  You have to be willing to reinvent yourself even when times are good instead of waiting for change to be forced on your business.  Also, your reputation is important and it’s crucial to build upon and protect it.  Remember every little experience in dealing with someone matters.  Finally, you need to know your business in and out and experience it from your customers’ perspective.  Paying attention to how one feels when they walk into your business versus the competition can help you gain that competitive edge.
