National Pawnbrokers Association Members Donate Musical Instruments

By   /   March 20, 2013  /   No Comments

On December 6, 2012 the National Pawnbrokers Association sponsored its fourth annual Musical Instrument Gift Day.  Generous donations of musical instruments from pawnbrokers around the country poured in.  Rowan Middle School in Jackson, MS will be the recipient of some of those musical instruments.  On March 26, 2013 the NPA and the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation will host an event presenting the donated musical instruments to students and the band program.  Musical Instrument Gift Day is on the same day as National Pawnbrokers Day and the same day as Saint Nicholas Day.  St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Claus, is the Patron Saint of pawnbroking, and his three bags of gold have become the international symbol of pawnbrokers.  The NPA worked closely with the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation to donate new and refurbished instruments to under-funded music programs.  Musical Instrument Gift Day is now in its fourth year with thousands of instruments having been donated.  The NPA membership has given both gently used instruments as well as cash contributions in support of the program.
